The citizen media centre Bennohaus
The citizen centre Bennohaus is a social-cultural, cultural- and mediapedagogical, multidisciplinary institution spanning all generations. It is setted in the eastern quarter of the city of Münster ("Ostviertel").
The association "Arbeitskreis Ostviertel e.V.", short AKO, is agency of this institution. It is a centre for the activities of the people living in this quarter. Simultaneously, the citizen media centre Bennohaus is a citizen media centre. Thus, the AKO cooperates with the association "Offener Bürgerkanal e.V." ("Open TV-Channel") which is also setted in the Bennohaus.

The Bennohaus is a social- cultural and mediapedagogical institution in the eastern quarter of Münster, open for every citizen, especially for children, youngsters and seniors. Meeting point, cultural programms, institution for further education and centre for the mediation of media competences- the Bennohaus includes all these aspects and by this contributes considerably to the communication within the quarter and beyond.Arbeitskreis Ostviertel (AKO)
Agency of the Bennohaus is the association AKO. Within this association, various honorary employees and initiatives are engaged. The AKO organises and defines the work of the centre as regard to contents.quarter work
Essential element of the philosophy of the Bennohaus is to promote the social life and the collaboration in the quarter. Thus, the Bennohaus supports f.e. the activities of associations and schools by offering rooms, techniques, counselling, information and service. An annual intercultural festival as well as events with cabaret and music emphasise this engagement. Furthermore, teh Café Local of the Bennohaus is a meeting point for the inhabitants of the quarter.multidisciplinary and open for all generations
Due to multidisciplinary projects spanning all generations, the Bennohaus offers several possibilities to become active in very different fields. The Bennohaus organises and promotes cultural and medial workshops for children, youngsters, seniors and multipliers not only on local, but also on a national and international level.local and international
Thanks to the collaboration of all the involved and thanks to the cooperation of local, national and international partners, a large variety of social and creative activities and citizen-friendly offers have been developed in the Bennohaus, open to be used and to be designed by every interested person.institution for further education
The institution for further education (called "Bildungsstätte im Bennohaus-BiB") is awarded state recognition. This part of the Bennohaus contributes to the further education not only of interested citizens but also of cultural- and media pedagogues as well as of participants of professional qualifications in the frame of single seminars or qualification modules.financing
Partly, the Bennohaus is financed by proprietary revenues; moreover, it is supported by the city of Münster, the ministry for women, youth, family and health of the federal state NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) and of the federal institution for media in NRW.
